- 2 cups [500 mL] yellow split peas
- 12 cups [3 L] water
- 2 medium onions, finely chopped
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 tablespoon [15 mL] chopped parsley
- 2 tablespoons [30 mL] fine herbs
- Pinch of savory
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Dried vegetable pieces [optional]
- Mix together all ingredients into a large casserole.
- Bring to a boil.
- Simmer over low heat for 3 hours, stirring from time to time.
