Barley Soup

IngredientsPreparation
  • 12 cups [3 L] water
  • 1 beef bone
  • 1/2 cup [125 mL] barley
  • 2 medium carrots, diced
  • 1 medium potato, diced
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup [60 mL] finely chopped celery
  • 2 teaspoons [10 mL] salt
  • Pepper, to taste
  • Bring water to a boil.
  • Add beef bone and barley; leave to simmer for 1 1/2 hours.
  • Add all remaining ingredients.
  • Leave to simmer for 30 minutes more before serving.
